The Beginning of the Rest of Our Life.... :)

I'm starting a family blog so that I can remember all the special times in our life. I hope that I will be somewhat diligent in keeping up with this!

Right now Michael and I are on the count down for our first little baby to arrive. How can I describe my feelings? Its so hard to put into words how I feel because I actually don't even really know. I have a hunch that I will fall in love our baby and enjoy a whole new side of life that I didn't even really know existed. But right now, I'm sort of in the uncomfortable last stages of pregnancy anxious to just see how this all unfolds. Michael says that he is really excited for the baby and is looking forward to doing bottle feedings and figuring out the perfect procedure for diaper changing. He's already such a good Dad!

Last Tuesday I had my baby shower and it was great. My friend Jen Hulme along with a bunch of other friends threw it for me. Mikes Mom showed up as a surprise which was quite the surprise since she lives 6 hours away and doesn't drive on the freeway. Her friend Mary (who has been to our wedding, Michael's graduation and now baby shower) insisted on driving her down. Super nice, right? Mom of course was there (and Dad popped in a out as he came to keep Mom company for the drive). Michael was taking pictures and all in all it was a great time. I got a lot of lovely things and since I don't know if I'm having a boy or girl I got a lot of practical stuff that I need. A few highlights were really nice swaddling blankets, an ergo carrier and infant attachment, a car seat (courtesy of Mom), lots books as well as a homemade quilt and my baby blankets from my Grandma's from when I was young. All in all there were about 50 people there throughout the course of the night. It was funny because there was a "cast your ballot" game for it you thought the baby would be a boy or girl and it was an EXACT tie! haha. :) Also there was an advice box and I actually got some great tips from it. :)

As far as bedrest goes, I went into the high risk doctor for a checkup on Wednesday and everything looks super. I asked again about what I can and cannot do and they assured me I could be on the computer. In fact, their philosophy was that if I'm engaged in something that keeps me sitting then its better overall because I'll move around less. So now I'm happily editing weddings which is making me feel a lot less stressed. My worst nightmare is to have a newborn AND a whole queue of events that need to get done.

Michael got home from NYC on Friday night and his portfolio reviews went superb. Basically everyone he talked to loved his work and their only criticism was that they wanted to see more. He's so talented! He then shot a wedding on Saturday and is shooting an elopement tomorrow (Halloween!). He's been very busy. :)

That's about it for now. I'm feeling very proud of myself for starting this blog before our baby arrives so that we can document our family from the beginning. :) Love you all! xoxo
